Joint practice
History and philosophy
Mund. Kiefer. Gesicht. Bremen is the major joint practice for oral and maxillofacial surgery in Bremen. Our team consists of seven doctors and dentists Dr. Dr. Lür Köper, Henning Gropp, Dr. François Lanners, Dr. Silvia Lipphardt, Dr. William Yassin Pinzon Assis, Barbara Iwan and Doz. Dr. Dr. Volker Thieme working from three different locations in Bremen.
Treatment concept – ranging from dental surgery to microsurgical reconstructions
The surgical treatment concept at our joint medical practises covers dental surgery (impacted wisdom teeth and root end surgery), implant surgery (implanting of artificial teeth roots), the removal of facial tumors and facial reconstructions as well as facial aesthetic plastic surgery operations. Specialisations such as orthodontic surgery, bone augmentation for implants that will hold replacement teeth or or complex reconstructions after tumour operations using modern microsurgery techniques are offered by our team of experts and undertaken at the highest specialist levels. This applies not only to the sound international training of our team of surgeons, but also their willingness to partake in continuous advanced training and professional advancement.
Inpatients and outpatients – integrated patient care at three different locations
Our large staff enable us to operate spacious and technically well-equipped premises, which can also be expanded through strategic co-operations. We are the only O & M joint practice that can provide specialist consultations and treatment “from a single source” in Bremen We guide our patients through the complete treatment process: This covers the initial consultation and on to the hospitalisation treatment (if needed) as well as the follow-up checks afterwards.
Our “integrated patient care” concept is the principle use to select which one of our three practices in Bremen you should attend.
We opened our Diako practice in the Diakonie hospital (DIAKO) in Bremen-Gröpelingen in October 1982. In 2008 we moved into the newly built, ultra-modern medical centre at the DIAKO. The path to the hospital is short, the treatment options are numerous and safe and optimised for the patients. Our huge presence ensures that hospitalised patients are always in good hands at the ENT and facial plastic surgery clinics at the DIAKO.
We have had a second practice in North Bremen since 1993 and this practice moved into the Bremen-Nord clinic’s premises in 2002. Our outpatients clinic, which is a joint venture with the clinic, is located on the ground floor in our Bremen-Nord practice and we operate on outpatients and day-care patients there.
Our newest practice, which opened in April 2008, is in the Sternklinik. The ultra-modern medical centre specialises in multi-discipline and inter-discipline treatment of complex craniofacial problems. Our concept ensures that we are also deeply committed in the Sternklinik, working on patients problems together with experienced colleagues from adjacent specialisations as well as conventional medicine, inter-discipline and scientific level problems – well co-ordinated, in our own practice, in the centre of the city. At our Sternklinik practice we use our cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a highly developed, low radiation 3D x-ray equipment, which gives us many ultra-modern diagnostic options. Since the Spring of 2010 we also started to use a magnetic resonance imager, which belongs to the latest generation of equipment architecture.
Technical competence and social commitment
It is people that count first and foremost with us, and this is why we provide ultra-professional technical treatment. Our “competent & sympathetic” practice creed paraphrases our joint objective: To treat patients from the O & M and facial plastic surgery sectors at the highest professional level, without ever loosing sight of the human aspect.
Our surgeons Dr. Dr. Lür Köper, Dr. François Lanners and Henning Gropp have been regularly involved in the Third World since 1993. All three operate voluntarily in different regions in West Africa on patients with cleft-lips, jaws and palates, facial tumours and scars.
