Laser surgery

A CO2 laser system for use with different medical indications is installed at our practice in the DIAKO hospital:

Age and liver spots on the facial skin

Brownish, non-superficial skin lesions are known as age or liver spots, which start to arrive after your 40th birthday. These spots occur mostly on the back of the hands or on the face and neck. The use of laser beams is an extremely effective therapy in the case of age and liver spot disorders.

Actinic keratoses and pre-cancerous facial skin

Skin changes, which present full or partial danger, are malignant degenerations (facultative or obligate pre-cancerous), react well to low power CO2 lasers. The diseased dermal layers are destroyed by the laser’s powerful beam applied during the laser surgery. These skin disorders are normally removed without any problems over one or two sessions. It is advisable to undergo a dermatological examination and to have a tissue sample taken, if necessary, to ensure that the pigmented skin change is (still) benign prior to the commencement of surgery.

Mucous membrane surgery

High power laser applications are suitable for removing small mucous membrane tumours as well as for smoothing irritating mucous membrane ligaments and oral vestibule recesses to improve the seating of a dental prosthesis. The removal of the superficial tissue results in a rapid, pain-free and non-scarring tissue repair process.
